is boss liable for her mistake that cost me 166?

after i ran out of petrol at work my boss told me there was petrol in a green can, so i put it in my petrol tank. Unfortunately it was diesel after trying to start the car failed I had to call someone out to drain the tank flush system to restart the car. This came to a total of 166. she is denying that it was her fault, but she only her told me it WAS petrol?
Please advise as to wether she is responsible
Thanks

Legally, if she carelessly or negligently cost you money, as she did, she is liable for it. Practically, if she won't pay you voluntarily, you wpuld have to sue. Not only will that cost you around $50 in a filing fee and hours of your time, but it clearly is a drastic thing to sue your boss; doing this may not be worthwhile.
