If I was charged with being drunk in publicnover 6 years ago and missed my court date, does the DA need to refile charges each year?

Is there a chance this has just “gone away”? And, if so, how can I check this? What will happen when I return and can I only be arrested in that county?

The DA only needs to file criminal charges once, however I am certain that the court has issued a bench warrant for your arrest in this matter due to your failure to appear. If you return, you would be wise to either turn yourself in to local law enforcement on the warrant, or do a walk in arraignment at the court to clear up the warrant.
