I need to know the odds of me going to prison, years, and what’s the best thing to do.

I was standing outside my friends store and an officer drove up. He said move but not in my direction and I didn’t know he said it to me. So he got mad when I didn’t move and he shouted are you deaf I said “What’s your problem”. We started arguing and then he threw me on the ground, I was trying to defend my self not knowing if this was a beating from an angry man in uniform or an arrest, then I got tasered, arrested and was beaten in the car. They said I fought him and spit in his face and I’m charged with assault. I know there’s a lot who say there innocent,so what’s my chances and outlook.

Assault on a police officer is a serious charge, so I recommend that you consult and/or retain a skilled criminal defense attorney with respect to this matter as soon as possible.  In order to determine how likely it would be for you to obtain a favorable resolution to this charge it would be necessary to examine the strength of the state's evidence as well as any potential exculpatory evidence.  Exculpatory evidence is evidence that would corroborate your story and demonstrate that you are innocent.  For example, are there any witnesses, or is it possible that your friend's store has video recordings of the incident.  If strong exculpatory evidence exists to contradict the state's evidence, it may be possible for you to obtain a favorable resolution.  Nevertheless, a criminal defense attorney will be able to examine these factors and discuss the strengths and weaknesses of your case with you.
