If I am the sole beneficiary on my mother’s life insurance policy but my brother is the executor of her estate and is slowing down the distribution, how do I get it faster?

I have not received the money yet. Is there any legal action or anything I can do to directly obtain or get the money that I have been entrusted with?

I am so sorry for your loss.  If you were named as the beneficiary on the life insurance policy the insurance company should have written then check directly to you.  If you wer to receive the money under the Will and the beneficiary was the estate, then the money gets distributed to the estate and then the executor has to deal with taxes, filings, etc.  You can always question the status of the estate and look at the court file which is a public record.  But the executor should not distribute the money until the debts are paid and the taxes are filed.  Good luck.
