Can I get an extension for an injury claim if I’m deployed overseas?

I had a pretty serious car accident about a year ago. I was a passenger in the accident and have been having problems with my back since. I have been in contact with the insurance company since about a week after the accident. I feel like they have just been toying with me in hopes of a settlement until my status expired (which they are now telling me is in 5 days). Is it possible to file for an extension as I was, and currently am, deployed to Iraq?

By "status expiring", I assume you are referring to the statute of limitations.  If the statute of limitations expires in five days, you will need to either immediately file a lawsuit for negligence against the driver or settle the case.  If you do not file the lawsuit prior to the expiration of the statute of limitations, you will lose your rights forever in the matter.  If the case is settled, no lawsuit is filed, but if the case is not settled and you have not filed a lawsuit, once the statute of limitations expires, the insurance company will ignore you and you will have lost your rights forever in the matter.
