I am so sorry for your loss. If the check has ben made out to the estate then it must be deposited in to an estate account.  An Estate account should be opened by the person appointed by the court, named in the Will or the Petitio filed on behalf of the Estate.  The bank will likely ask for that documentation. So please figure out here what next step to take.  Good luck.
