Does the D.A. have to respond in writing?

This is really part of the plea bargaining process.  Asking for more time to put affairs in order is not an uncommon request.  Some counties put all of their negotiations in writing, but most just discuss it verbally.  If the parties disagree, then your defense attorney can always ask the judge for the time to put your affairs in order.  This is not a topic that is usually addressed in a formal motion or in writing.
