My daughter recently got a ticket for selling to a minor at her work. She has to attend a
hearing. Does she necessarily need a lawyer with her?

Legally, you do not "need" an attorney; you are allowed to represent yourself. But having a lawyer will increase the chances of having the charges dismissed or reduced, or a lesser punishment being imposed. If she can afford it, your daughter is advised to retain an attorney.
