What to do if I am a renter and the entry door is in need of repair?

I would call and write your landlord a note (keep a copy for future use and reference) of the need for the repair of the front door to your rental in that its disrepair is a safety issue.

In the note, let the landlord know that if he or she does not get the repairs done by a certain date you will contact a repair company to have it done and have the landlord billed for the service. If the due date comes and goes with no repairs being done, contact a person to get the repairs completed and have the landlord billed for the cost.
