There is no general answer--you need to reference the court's order ordering the suspension, since what the judge orders will control. So, when does it say the suspension begins? If you're asking this question in advance of going into court, make sure that at the hearing, if you lose and have your license suspended, that you ask the judge if the suspension could be delayed--e.g. to go into effect midnight that night--to give you a chance to get home; you can also make sure you understand the timing before living the courtroom. If your inquiring after the fact, call the judge's chambers--his or her clerk should be able to either tell you immediately or else check with the judge and call you back. Remember: it is the terms of the order which control, and judge's have considerable discretion to set the terms the way they want; therefore, you need to check was ordered in your specific case.
