If my roommates have junk in my front yard and I got a ticket for it, am I responsible?

My roommates have junk in my front yard and a unlicensed car. The city wrote tickets for this stuff to me. I have a court date coming up. Do I have to pay the tickets or can I tell the judge it was their stuff and they should pay? They are not on the lease either.

If the items that you were cited for were not yours at the rent al that you have but were rather your roommates' then you should not be legally responsible for the fines associated with the citation. As such, I would contest the citation in court on such grounds.

If the court does not agree with your defense, you should pay the fine and request that your roommates reimburse you for it. If they do not, your recourse against them would be small claims court.
