If my car was damaged when an unknown person crashed into the garage door during the middle of the night, should my landlord’s insurance company have paid for the damages to my car?
The garage door and infrastructure was damaged. My car sustained $2800 damage. BTW I do not own the house, I rent. The landlord’s insurance company paid for the house damages but not my car damages. My insurance company paid for my car repairs, however I did have to pay my $1000 deductible.

Why would the landlord's insurer pay for your damages? The landlord's insurer is not your insurer, and the landlord does not pay for a policy to protect you or your property. Assuming that landlord was not the one who did the damage i.e. was not at fault in causing the damage, then neither the landlord nor his insurer would have any liability to you. If you can't afford a $1,000 deductible, in the future, you need to purchase a policy with a lower deductible.
