Who is responsible for pest control in a rental?

I live in company provided housing , which I pay for out of my paycheck. We have an ant infestation problem. Who is responsible for the exterminator costs?

Typically, the landlord is responsible for pest control, as part of the landlord's obligation under the "implied warranty of habitability" (the obligation to provide rental premises which are firt for habitation). The exception would be if the infestation is due to some careless (or negligent) actions by the tenant, such as not throwing out garbage, leaving food out for extended periods, etc. If that is the case, then the tenant may end up being responsible for the cost.
