Can I show proof of my financial situation to the courts and be granted a relief of my support payments for about 6 months so I can try to become gainfully employed again?
I have always payed child support for my daughter and want nothing more than to be able to do so. Over this past year however, I have not been able to make timely payments due to loss of income and having to help care for my mother who is suffering from a rare terminal disease. The payments I have managed to make has either been loaned to me, or by performing odd jobs, whenever one arises.

You are taking responsibility, and that is an important note for the court to review. You should immediately file for a temporary stay or suspension (basically file a request to amend the order) so that you can work out a modified payment plan for a later date. Just make sure you file sooner rather than later because if you are on the receiving end of a contempt order or motion, the court may not look at this as if you are being responsible but rather that you are making excuses.
