What kind of benefits could I receive ifI am prevented from working due to an injury?
I fell at home 1 month ago and I have a fractured sacrum. I am having to use a walker. I am a RN and recently resigned because of the injury and inability to work (it is difficult to stand, walk, sit, drive). I am on pain medications. I was told that I could be in for a long process of healing. Exactly what timeframe I am looking at, is questionable at this time. But I need some type of income coming in. Can I qualify for unemployment, disability, etc?

I am so sorry for your injury. You need to speak with a disability attorney in your area. At the very least you may be able to qualify for social security disability benefits. Part of your payout to social security covers disability as well, which most people do not realize. Unemployment would probably not cover you in this type of situation but ask as state laws on the ability to collect vary drastically from state to state. Some states allow you to collect if you need to resign to take care of an ailing family member, etc., but some are very strict on paying out unemployment benefits. The attorney will best know how to proceed. Good luck.
