How long does a DUI stay on your record for in the state of Virginia?

If it is forever, what are the stipulations in which the court will agree to expunge the case from your file?

In Virginia, the number of years that a conviction for driving under the influence (DUI) stays on your record is eleven, unless you were operaing a commercial motor vehicle (CMV).  Then the conviction remains on your record permanently.  All of the following convictions remain on your record for 11 years: driving while intoxicated, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, driving under the influence of drugs, involuntary manslaughter while under the influence of alcohol, refusing a blood/breath test.  If your were drifing a CMV, the court will typically not agree to expunge the case from your file, but you should contact an attorney in your state for addressing this issue with the court.
