The way to recover paid child support obtained via a wage garnishment per a court order where your parental rights were ended via the adoption of your children's step father terminating any obligation for you to pay child support would be for you to write the entity that garnished your wages with a certified copy of the adoption order requesting reimbursement.

Keep a copy of what is sent for future use and need. If you do not get repayment within a certain period of time, your option is to consult with a family law attorney to assist you and if you cannot afford one, consult with your local legal aid clinic for assistance.
