What are my options if my home was damaged and my possessions destroyeddue to awatermain break?
My basement was flooded, every thing inc. Furnace and hot water heater destroyed. Wall coming down, driveway cracked and displaced. The city water department will not allow me to make a claim to their insurance. They refuse to give me any information? What do I do?

One of two things: do you have insurance? Then call your carrier and make a claim. And do so as soon as possible. Your insurance company should pay you your damages and then they will "subrogate" your claim, meaning that they will step in to your shoes and sue for the repayment of the money they paid out. You may have a deductible and I would consider your options by reading your policy regarding your recovery as against the City personally. Otherwise, you can sue the City yourself for the damages caused by the break. Be quick about that as well because lawsuits against municipalities often have time constraints. You may want to seek legal help here. Good luck.
