Can we legally be evicted out of our home for no reason?

They served us with an eviction notice this morning and we asked why we were being evicted and his response was, “No reason, we just want to re-renovate the place”.

If you still have a term period left on your lease and are current on your payments for it, the landlord cannot legally end your lease. However, if you are on a month to month lease, the landlord can end your lease by giving you 30 days notice for whatever reason he or she may desire so long as you are not being discriminated against.

The desire to renovate a unit is typically an acceptable reason to end a lease of a tenant.
