What to do if I was told 6 months ago I would be transferring and now 6 weeks before, I’ve been laid off?

My company got purchased by another company 6 months ago and I was advised I would not loose my job. Now, 6 weeks before I am to transfer to the new company and while I have been busting my butt to assist closing my existing company, they decided to lay me off but not before I finish closing my existing company. I feel I am being used to stay in order to get a severance package. Oh and by the way I have been with this company for over 20 years. What do I do? I want to sue.

You can't sue and win.  Arizona is an "at will" employment state, and you can be let go for any reason except an illegal (discriminatory) one.  Even after 20 years of exemplary work.  Yes, they are paying you severance to get you to stay for those final weeks and close up shop.  Congrats on getting severance.
