Can I hold my ex-roommate’s furniture for ransom if she owes me money?
My friend and I got a place together but she moved out and owes me $800. Her furniture is still here am I legally allowed to keep her furniture until she pays me or do I have to let her have it?

No, you cannot. If you are owed this money in fact, then you will have to sue her (in small claims court). If you withhold her furniture then you can be found guilty of the crime of conversion and/or be sued yourself.
