Power of attorney
How do I start trying to obtain power of
attorney for my mother? She suffers
from severe schizophrenia and
dementia. She is signing documents for
different agencies and companies and
not remembering anything she signing
and getting herself into trouble because
she doesn’t remember anything. I don’t
know where to look for the correct
paperwork or I don’t know if I have to
file at the courthouse?

The best thing that you can do is to go to Probate Court and ask to be appointed as her Guardian. If she does not have the capacity to make the decisions on her own you need to step in. Here is a guide from the Courts but please seek legal help. Good luck.
