Is it right for a person’s gross income to be manipulated on a child support worksheet when there is equal visitation time?

An amount of $525 was added to my gross monthly income. This caused my child support to be $70 per month to cover our child’s health insurance. Without this manipulation of numbers, shouldn’t I be getting some monetary support? You probably need more details but manipulation of anything in a divorce doesn’t seem ethical.

I will answer your question the best I can. Ordinarily child support is based upon the net monthly incomes of both parents in comparison to the county child support guidelines where the parent who has the minor child less time than the other pays some semblance of child support. Gross income should not be manipulated for child support issues.
