If I was in a no-fault parking lot accident with no insurance, do I have to pay the other persons damages?

I was in a no fault parking lot accident and I had no insurance at the time. Does that automatically make me liable for her damages? The police asked me no questions about what happened or anything else. The only cited me for not having any insurance.

Regardless of whether you are cited by the police, you are only legally responsible for another person's injuries, damages, or economic losses if you were at fault, at least in part, in causing the accident. Without fault--e.g. without your having driven carelessly or negligently--you are not liabile. Of course, if the other party believes you were at fault, he or she could try to sue you; he or she is not required to accept the police's determination of fault. If  sued, you'd need to decide whether to pay, to fight, or to seek to settle, bearing in mind that even simply defending yourself in a lawsuit will cost money.
