What can I do if I filed for my tax refund incorrectly so it went into the wrong bank account and into someone else’s account instead?

I put the wrong account number down (off by only 1 digit). The person knew it didn’t belong to her but cashed out over $4,000 of what belongs to me. She then immediately closed out her account. How can I find this person and have this person taken to court for fraud?

You should be able to find her by way of the bank--they should have records of their customs or depositors. If they will not voluntarily provide this information, you can serve a subpoena on them to get it. An attorney can help you to do this, as well as with filing the lawsuit once you know where she is. You can also contact the police--this is theft, and they may investigate and find her.
