Am I entitled for any compensastion from landlord if my car got flooded in the garage?

I am renting the apartmen. My car got flooded in the garage and I wasn’t insured from flooding within my motor insurance. Can I claim any compensation for lost car, which had to be scrapped, from building management? What should I do in this situation? The building is build next to the river and the garage didn’t have any protection against flooding.

It would be worthwhile for you to speak with an attorney about the situation in detail. The issue will likely depend on whether the building *should* have had protection from flooding, which in turn depends on the facts: the situation and the potential liability is very different for a building located at river level (more or less) versus one built high up, which flooded only due to a freak crest; it would also be different if this river frequently floods, versus a river that only very rarely does. The measures the landlord should take are shaped by the factual situation and degree of risk.
