Is it legal to work seven days straight?

Im a hotel housekeeper for a days inn
and I’ve worked seven days straight and
each day more than seven hours. I
thought I had tomorrow off but my boss
said that she changed the schedule and
I have to come in that it’s my
responsibility to check the schedule
everyday is any of that legal and what
can I do about it

Other than certain professions (airline pilots, some medical personnel, etc), there is no limit to how many days in a row that a person can legally be scheduled to work. However if you are a non-exempt employee (i.e. typically hourly) then you are subject to overtime for any hours that you may work over 40 in a work week or 8 in a work day. Such overtime is to be paid at 1 1/2 your hourly rate (i.e. "time and a half"). Further, in at will employment an employer can set the conditions of the wo rkplace much as it sees fit; this includes when and how many hours to schedule an employee to work. Therefore, unless this treatment constitutes some form of legally actionable discrimination or this action violates an employment contract or union agreement, it is legal.
