If I am on disability, can my employer cancel my insurance?

I am about 6 months into a battle with cancer and have been on disability. I got a letter from my employer stating they are putting me on COBRA which I cannot afford at $700 a month. It seems they shouldn’t be allowed to do that. I want to go to work when I am healthy. I’m lost.

Your insurance willaps apse if younot meet meet the minimum work qualifications, which is usually working or having paid time off. This is what women on maternity deal with when their FMLA runs out and their paid time off and sick time run out. Consider alternatives to COBRA like state care or see if you can work the minimal hours to keep your insurance active.
