Company History: American United Mutual Insurance Holding company is the ultimate parent company of, Indiana based, OneAmerica Financial Partners, Inc and its subsidiary Pioneer Mutual Life Insurance Company, based in Fargo, North Dakota. The mutual holding company structure was created in 2000 and Pioneer was merged into the mutual holding company in 2002. OneAmerica has three principal business units: Retirement Services (60% of premium income), Individual Operations (25%) and Group Operations (15%). Pioneer’s primary product is universal life which it sells through 450 Personal Producing General Agents. Other subsidiaries sell variable universal life and tax deferred retirement plans through sales offices, brokers, registered representatives and general agencies. Group products are sold throgh agents, brokers, regional representatives and worksite sales.

Life Annuity Business: Pioneer’s primary product is universal life. Universal life accounts for one-half of first year direct life premium for the Individual Operations business. California (20%) of direct premium, Minnesota (12%) and North Dakota (10%) are the major states for Pioneer.
