another driver with grange insurance hit my car, dealing with them has been nothing but lies a refusals to pay for anything but the cheapest of cheapest sources, promise things such as equivalent mileage parts but make no effort to actually make that happen

I was hit by a Grange Insured driver, the entire experience was awful. They fought me tooth and nail over a $78 dollar discrepancy with the body shop that I ended up having to pay out of pocket. It was pathetic. I get rear-ended by their policy holder and it ends up costing me in the end. It’s amazing that they’d risk aggravating a claimant over $78 when I could easily sue for much more. Horrible to deal with.

In 2002 after a tornado went through our area on a Friday afternoon. I had a check in my hands to start repairs Saturday evening. They cpontacted a number of their insured in our neighborhood on Saturday & Sunday and left checks so their policyholders could start repairs without having to use their own money.

Getting way to expensive

We were in an accident in which my wife was broadsided by another vehicle. The police report showed that other drive was completely at fault. My wife could have hit the other driver in the side and killed or injured him severely. Instead, she swerved into the grass median to avoid him, allowing him to instead hit her broadside and injure her. Grange paid to have our vehicle repaired, then stuck US with a bill for a new tire. I was incredulous. Logically and morally, how in the world could the other driver be at fault and we have to pay ANYTHING. When I addressed this, I received a very….what is the word?….snotty reply they would not do anything else, and that they were canceling our rental that moment.
But it gets worse. It was 7 days after the accident before they even offered a rental. And while my wife continues to go to the doctor 3 times a week, costing me part of my salary while I watch out little ones. My own insurance company has paid all our bills to date. Her x-rays show the injury plainly, and judging by their past “concern” for her, we are headed to court to get them to do the right thing. What a shame….to have to get a BILLION dollar company to do the right thing. No wonder their customer satisfaction ratings are so low.

I was in an auto accident in 2006 and have had nothing but lies, denials, etc. from everyone from initial claims adjuster on. It’s been three years fighting for the benefits that I paid for! This company wouldn’t even return my calls and I was told my injuries weren’t that bad…Hmmmm, a mild traumatic brain injury, multiple herniated disc whereas I was told I should have two spinal fusions…really? Not that bad? I’d like to see how well they could function with these injuries.
In their defense…it seems like most insurance companies are doing the same things. Our laws need to change to protect consumers, not the money making machines called INSURANCE companies. They insure their own wealth while letting their customers suffer from debilitating injuries and financial destruction.

Actually a Grange policyholder backed into my daughters car. Using fuzzy math they devalued the hell out of my daughters nice car. We searched 2 months for an exceptional car. The fuzzy math dictated the car should be scraped!! Would not allow Grange to scrap
a great car.
The lowest price I found on the internet was $4800..the average was $5500. Grange valued at $3900 then further deducted $1500 due to misc dents etc. there was no adds.
Just goofy…the poor really would suffer. they would lose their car and be offered a 50% or less settlement package
I have never been in an accident. This is not America…..

I have been insured with Grange since 1993, first auto, then auto and homeowners. We’ve had several auto claims over the years where we’ve been hit by other companies and filed through Grange to get our cars repaired, and in one case one car was totalled due to a drunk, uninsured motorist. Grange has always been super responsive and very quick to get back to us. Their premiums are competitive. I am a happy customer.

I was a policy holder in 2007. A claim that I filed in July 2007 was submitted and processed. I went to the licence beaurea and there was a block on my licence for a judgement of almost 27,000. It is August 2009! I was never notified of any court proceedings and Grange told me at the time that I was covered and now an attorney wants the money for the judgement before they release the block on my licence. Of course the woman who processes the claim is no longer with the company and I am screwed. Thanks, Grange insurance, I hope you go down in flames!

When we went to grange we were thinking of getting a new roof, our was about 18 years old. grange charged a $20.00 surcharge due to the age of the roof. OK…So we got a new roof, a metal one. It was cheaper, greener, less likely to be damaged than a shingled roof. Grange sent us a bill for an additonal $10.00 in premiums. (policy was paid for 1 year and we are about 6 months into it). They also changed our discounts, including lowering the discount we had for newer plumbing. Go figure. I sent a note to them over 2 weeks ago & their “message” system said We should receive a reply in 2to3 bussiness days. At the the end of the 3rd BD I sent a note again asking when I could expect a reply as to why I was now paying more(even with the surcharged removed and why discounts were changed etc). I was told by the rep that my concerns had been forwarded to the appropriate dept. Still have heard nothing. I will keep trying. If this is an indication of a response to mere questions I hate to imagine if I had a claim.

Grange has NOT been entirely fair or professional with handling our account! Our car was recently rear-ended and had about $4000 damage to it. They squabbled over some repairs and they refused to repair our front heater controls. The front and rear of the car was damaged since we were hit front behind and driven into the car in front of us. Most of the damage was to the rear end. We also had damage to the front end. The front spoiler, bumper, radiator, and some damage to the air-conditioner as well. When we went to pick up the car we were on our way home and turned the front heater on… it did not work but it did during the night prior to the accident (December 2009. Our car was at the repair shop for over three weeks so we just went home and called the repair shop the next day. To make the story shorter the GRANGE insurance adjuster said in no uncertain terms that the heater was not damaged due to the accident. I tried to tell the WOMAN (she was no lady!) that the heater worked prior to the accident. She did NOT LISTEN!!! We could not convince her… she must have thought that we were Lying! Well a few days later we were out and stop to get a carry-out soft-drink. Then it struck us… we had two large soft drinks in the front drink holder near the ash tray. The drinks were crushed from a small portable stow that was between the front bucket seats. The drinks went everywhere. It is our theory that the pop/soft drinks got into the switches and maybe damaged the switch. But Grange would NOT Listen.
Another item: We received notice by mail right before our home insurance was due that the house insurance would be cancelled because we did not have gutters on the rear of the house; had some minor ivy growing on the masonry wall of the house which is very common (I usually keep the ivy down but missed it this past fall). The house’s rear rain gutters were taken down last fall and were going to be replaced. I had started reroofing the house and was about two-thirds finished when bad weather hit us. I am 65 years old but still able to work and I will be completing the roof this spring when the weather gets better. The roof has one layer of shingles on it and I had some damage to it from a wind storm and developed a leak. I am applying a second layer of roofing to the house and the leak area has been repaired. The remaining third of the roof will be done this spring. We are NOT going to call GRANGE and explain the situation since they did NOT even try to contact us about the situation. They just sent the house insurance cancellation notice. We are also going to cancel the auto insurance and find a reputable insurance company for our home and autos. Stay away from GRANGE!

My car was damaged due to sliding on ice and taken to the body shop. On the way to the body shop the car fell off the lift of the tow truck causing damage to the front end. The claims adjuster looked at the car and wrote a check gave it to the body shop without contacting me. The body shop then started working on my car without my permission. Grange did not want to go after the tow truck company because it was only $1500 in damages caused by them. Now my rates are sky high…. I will be cancelling my home and auto.

had wind damage causing loss of shingles and their adjuster hired an engineering company to find fault in the placement of nails. their suggestion was to take shingles off side of house and move them to front and place non matching shingles on side since these shingles no longer made. Also come to find out i will dropped as a consumer in may. Not sure why , they are refusing to pay on claim and im never late on payments.

grange will take the money from the policy holder and put that directly into quarterly profits when settling a claim. you are but a number and you see how they add up for them. best advice choose someone more reliable.

rate hike of over 500.00 this year, no claims filed, just a big big rip off. when i had a claim for water damage, due to an usually high amount of wind and rain,,,i was told it was because of a design flaw…what? there had never been any kind of leak before. they are defineatly in the business of taking care of thereselves, not the customers that pay them premiums. I will tell anyone that will listen not to do business with them, ever.

they take your money, when you are hit by another vehicle and are not at fault, but are injured and need to use your benefits, they treat you like a criminal and do not pay your doctors!!!! they have caused me and my family alot of stress!!!

The adjuster would not even come out to review the damage I had do a smoke and heat damage. They are very decitful and they lie on you to other parties involved. I had fire on top of the stove in a small house and they told the person that was supposed to finally settle our dispute over damages that the fire was in the oven.
I have small house and have paid my premiums for many years. I will never recommend this company to my worst enemy. We are only asking them to settle for the damages. I have purchased the materials to fix my kitchen and they get mad when I call them. Very unprofessional group along with their affiliates-they are pathetic

Almost every other house in our neighborhood, including our next door neighbor, had a roof replaced following a May 2010 hailstorm; however, Grange denied our claim.

Dropped policies even though premiums were paid in full, Grange owed us $300 for policy changes, we added a vehicle $180, but policies for 3 other vehicles were dropped due to non payment even though they owed us more than we owed them.

Had a accident on saturday took till tuesday to get a rental, rushed the body shop had to take it back on my own time without a rental to finish work, other problems developed with the vehicle they refused to even talk to me on the phone!!!

Unethical company. Never had a real accident with them. I backed into a parked car worth $3k. I got an estimate to settle entire thing from the owner of the car for $1100. When grange got involved with the claim they gave the owner $1370 which is $20 over there threshold for considering the accident in my premium. They raised my rate $800 for 3 years cause of this. Then I decided I might as well get my car fixed since they were going to raise my rates. They then told me that they will only pay for parts that come from other cars that were in accidents. I had no idea when I signed up for this insurance it was such a joke. I canceled all insurance with them. God forbide I actually got in an accident, they are not on your side. I had nationwide before. I thought their slogan was marketing nonsense, I was wrong. Do not get lured in with granges low rates. You will pay more in the end even if you make a TINY dent on a 10 year old bottom of the line hyndi.

Had hail damage to roof along with all my neighbors they all were given new roofs but grange would not cover mine. I have had them for 20 years never had a previous claim and always paid my premiums on time. Why was I paying for insurance

BEWARE A tree fell on my car but only caused minimal damage – mostly paint scratches. Grange came right out and immediately sent me a check… unfortuantely when I went to a body shop for an actual estimate it was 3 thousand dollars more than Grange "estimated" it to be. So they wanted me to pay to have my car "totaled" out. There is nothing wrong with the car except cosmetics. If they are acting efficiently it is because they are screwing your socks off Now they are surly and unprofessional because i want what they actually owe me. It has now been months and I am still waiting. I WILL NOT be renewing my policies

We have been with Grange for 15 years. We had storm damage in July. We have dealt with a very rude adjustor and now are still having to deal with trying to get money for repairs. They do not want to pay for anything without many complaints and phone calls. We will be changing as soon as we get this resolved.

My husband was with grange for 3 years. We got married and he updated his policy and changed addresses. He continued to pay his premium and two months after we were married he had an accident. Apparently the office did not change our address on his auto insurance and said he had not paid his auto insuracne and he would be cancled. They had applied all of his payments to renters insurance only. Our renters policy was paid up for more than a YEAR They refused to pay and we are now out of pocket for all the damages. – Choose a different provider

Had our policy over 10 years. Last year we had a mishap with a petty theft. Grange was very understanding and acted quickly. We got a generous amount for the few items stolen. Very happy with claim although we would rather not have had one

The insured was ordered to give a phone interview to an opposing insurance company who in fact was the second name of an insurance company who tried to use deceptive methods to contact him. The Grange adjuster provided to the opposing insurance company their insured work phone number. Please note this was a MVA with no injuries and a small property damage claim.The police issued no citations. There were no witnesses. The insured had a clean driving record of no moving violations for over 30 years. The other driver did posses a long criminal history in addition to bad driving and had convictions for assault and domestic violence. He was very aggressive at the scene and driving with privileges under a 12 point suspension. Grange also did not wish to send out an estimator for the property damage on a new 2012 car until the insured insisted. The adjuster insisted that the insured had to use certain repair shops who were backed up for weeks.

We have had Grange Auto and Home Insurance for twenty five years or more. I can count on one hand how many times we have filed a claim all of which being less than 2000. Unfortunately our Amana wall heating/air unit was damaged due to an electrical storm. We attempted to file a claim to have the unit replaced total replacement cost being 1200. Unfortunately we were told because we had filed a claim last year for some minor roof damage 1000 our rates would go up. It was explained that if you file more than one claim in a five year time span your rates go up regardless of the amount of the claims. Ridiculous

Communication is terrible between company and insuredgo ahead and send them email snail mail whatever but they will completely ignore you. Apparently they ONLY act through their agents so if you don’t have a great relationship with the agent you are screwed. Switched to GEICO and I like them a lot better

I was in an accident and it was my fault. Grange was responsive and moved quickly to settle the claim. I was satisfied with the service turnaround and eventual outcome i.e. amount they paid to replace my vehicle. It was – overall – a good experience given the circumstances.

There is no need to go on and on about what is wrong with grange.1 PEOPLE pay attention just get out. They would rather pay it all to phony adjusters or anyone but the one with the loss.2 any agent who sells for grange trust me is not looking out for you. They know you will be screwed. Grange takes very good care of the people in the circle. For the rest it’s just bend over and take it LOL. 3 There are over 200 companies out there and they don’t even make the top 100 list. So wake up the joke is on you they are about taking not paying. And by the way they are not cheap. I was only with them 4-5 years but from the time i started the insurance tripled with out even a claim. Then when i did have a claim i had to fight and got screwed. They use the ole make us pay and if we do pay you’ll spend it all making us. Just get out you been warned.

This is a very bad insurance company. DO NOT USE GRANGE INS. We have been treated like criminals since our claim was submitted. We have been intimidated and HARASSED by different employees of this sham company. They are AWFUL.

I have been a Grange customer for 25 years. 16 years as a home owner and 25 years with an auto policy. This past week Grange declined to renew my policy with only a form letter and I doubt they even notified my former insurance agent. I had a total of 2 claims on my house policy one was an act of God when a tree uprooted and fell onto our roof and the other was a personal liability.There should be laws enacted to prevent thieves like this to operate. I would advise anyone to stay as far away from Grange as possible.

After an small accident car was written off by Grange as total due to air begs deploying. They gave us about half the value of replacement. They did no investigating as to who was at fault but said they did lied. They are not honest people. Would not recommend this company to my enemy.

This insurer is horrible they not only treat their policy holder back but then fired 52 adjustor nationwide in one day including my own this insurer had an all time record breaking profit year in 2016 yet they delay deny and defend their crooked positions. Steer clear
