Company History: Federated Insurance was founded in 1904 by a group of business people led by equipment dealer Charles I. Buxton. Years later Federated grew to become one of the first insurance agencies to cover property, liability, and health insurance under the leadership of Chairman, John A. Buxton. Jeffrey E. Fetters, the current Chairman, CEO, and President began his leadership at the end of 2012. Federated has nearly 2,300 employees, 568 marketing representatives nationwide and 430 affinity groups that exclusively recommend Federated’s programs to their members. Over 70% of the company’s total premiums are due to the company’s affinity relationships. Federated was named one of the top 50 performing insurance companies in the nation by Ward Group, and is one of two organizations that has had affiliated companies assigned to both the life-health and property-casualty Ward’s top 50 group of companies each year since 2001. Federated has a regional office in Phoenix and several service offices throughout the country.

Homeowners Business: Federated is the 58th largest property/casualty insurance company in the US based off of total assets and the 11th largest property/casualty mutual insurance company in US based off of total assets.
Health Business: Federated Insurance offers Disability, Group Medical Life, and dental plan coverage to businesses.
They spend all kinds of money on flyers and telling how good they are then don,t uphold there word.
example they paid $0.99 sent me a bill of $1.89. The list goes on and on and the prices get bigger and bigger. mean while they pay less and less.

This company is great. They have great coverage and very good agents. The one claim I had was handled promptly and very smooth. I would reccommend them to anyone.

Warning – They quote you a lower price then increase it the next year!
Also you must put up with their constant harassment about life insurance.
All this and poor claims service! No thank you. I would not buy from them again.

A small insurance company and the call center employees seem friendly. However, the managment is arrogant and rude. Your local area rep who you must go through to get coverage will tell you anything you want to hear to sell the policy. Then the true colors come out after you sign on the dotted line with this company.

Do not waste your money My employer chose this company to save money. Myself and another employee went to physicians listed on their website only to get a bill stating the physicians were out of network. I have spent many mornings on my day off speaking with the company about this issue. Three months later- no results.

Worst claims processing ever they dont even quote correct benefits to providers on phone when your deductible out-of-pocket are met. Rarely is a claim paid right the first time. They will say anything to sell the employer the policy but do not pay claims according to it. If you want to spend all your time on the phone with an insurance company backpeddling while you are sick or injured this is the company for you

This is my ex-insurance company. I was in the hospital for two days. They refused to pay for one of those days. My out of pocket was 3000.00. So far I have paid almost 4000.00 out of pocket.Dont waste your money.

This company is first class. They give you expert advise and are always there when you need them. They are not always the cheapest but you get what you pay for

Federated is not your typical insurance company. Instead of sneding an agent out to try and sell you a policy they send out a professional rep who spends time with you gathers information then makes intelligent recommendations. I paid a little more for my business insurance but it was well worth it.

Had 2 claims this last year a theft and Damage to RV both were taken care very fairly. Best company to get your business and life insurance from.

this company just look for money. a lot of tricks inside when you sign papers. It is really hard to contact them once you paid money.

Provides reasonable quotes and coverage Then after agreements are signed and insurance in place The work very very hard at finding ways to up your premiums. Will charge you retroactively for the previous year upping your premiums even though you never filed any claim and have already paid the bill. Their internal offices/departments have seemingly poor communications with each other

Went in for a follow up appointment that ive been doing for yrs and never had a problem with to get my prescription refilled that ive been taking for a while…federated cigna is giving me the runaround to cover it…saying they havent recieved anything but yet my dr office has an eob showing where they did in fact get it and denied to pay for a simple follow up visit that everyone else has always paid. lame

Our company left BCBS a few years ago. On our way back to BCBS. I understand you may experience a out of net work doctor BUT A COMPLETE MAJOR HOSPITAL. Dangerous insurance very poor coverage.

Our business, workers comp, auto, and disability. Went through our first general audit, what a disaster, agent that is all to anxious to sell me insurance never lifted a finger to assist me through the audit process. Now Im faced with cancellations and poor communication. They need to show me something better soon for a chance at redemption

Federated Insurance destroyed my familys business by hiring Insurance Office Services to write an inspection report. The agent lied on the report and Federated made this report public so no other insurance company would insure us. They scorched the earth so I couldnt price shop and theyre doing an audit to make sure they made enough money. This company is absolutely the devil incarnate, full of soulless automatons leaving away to make the filthy rich even richer.

BE CAREFUL The rep for Montana is quite the salesman. I unfortunately fell for his sales pitch. Make sure if you are a business owner, you have your attorney read the fine print. There were so many errors with the policy finally went into effect. I would not have been given one red cent if I was to file any claim. Perhaps this is how Federated is able to stay in business
