Most employees are "at will" workers. This means that they can be terminated for any reason or no reason at all, with or without notice. The exceptions being, an employee cannot be fired if their treatment is the result of legally actionable discrimination. Also, an employer's action cannot violate the terms of an employment contract or union/collective bargaining agreement.
