information. I was wondering what is going to happen next. Will I have to appear
in court as a witness if charges are filed?

You may have to appear in court, if charges and filed AND it goes to trial; these often settle, such as with a plea deal, without trial, and if there is no trial, there is no need for your testimony. But if it goes to trial, you will almost certainly be called to testify as a witness to the hit-and-run.
