My friend lives in north carolina was horse sitting for a friend’s horse. All three horses got out and ran down a long drive into the main road. Her friend’s horse was hit and killed, and her horse had minor injuries. The man who hit the horses two yrs later has claimed whipplash and sueing her. At the time had no insurance on her trailer. At the time she agreed to pay damages to the van. Now two yrs later he is suing. She has no money to retain an attornery and is frightened that he could take her land. What will happen to her and her land? What responsiblity does she have? Thank you.

What do you mean she has no money to retain an attorney? Doe she have homeowner's insurance? She should consult with an attorney anyway. The problem here is the friend may be partially responsible depending your laws concerning bailments, house sitting, horse sitting, etc. Try www.attorneypages.com and check his or her record at the New York State State Bar.
Also, try New York legal aid in the county in which this occurred. Perhaps there may be resources there to help.
