I am a lawyer in CT and practice in this area of the law.  I suggest that you place an ad in the newspaper advertising the sale of the property.  Hopefully the person claims it on the date of the sale (put the sale out 2 weeks from the date of the advertisement and describe the property in detail).  Also, I would send a letter to the last known address of the person or call the DMV in the state where you believe the person lives to find out if they pay tax on a car and where the bill is sent so you can send them the letter certified mail telling them that you are going to be selling the items unless they are claimed in 2 weeks.  this way you have provided plenty of notice.
