In the majority states, your landlord can decide what form of rental payment he wants to receive. Therefore, you will have to see whether or not your lease states other acceptable methods of payment. If it does, then you and your landlord are bound by its terms; if the your lease is silent on this, then your landlord can require that you pay as he directs. Just insist that you get a detailed receipt every time you pay your rent.
