Quitting is voluntary: while you can be asked to quit, be pressured to quit, etc. you *cannot* be forced to quit. Stand firm: do not sign a resignation letter and keep telling them you never quit. They can fire you if they want, of course, but then you will not owe them the money under the contract and may be eligible for unemployment benefits (and if the way they fired you violates the terms of your contract, you may be able to sue them for compensation for breach of contract). If they want you out, force them to act.
