If the children are adult, they can best try to cooperate with the Executor.  The Executor has all sorts of duties -- to the Estate, all (you and any other) beneficiaries, tax officials. potential creditors and the court that appointed him/er.

In most instances an executor will be willing to let you lease the property and maintain it pending your getting legal title.
