Larceny is characterized in Wisconsin as a theft. It is similar to embezzlement in that property not owned by you is converted for your use. In embezzlement the thief is employed by the property owner. It can be charged as a felony or a misdemeanor depending on the value of the property. Based upon your claim that the value of the property in question is $14,000, it will be classified as a Class G Felony in Wisconsin (exceeds $10,000 but is less than $100,000).
