What is doctor shopping?

I have been prescribed Darvocet by the same doctor  for the past year and a half. A few months back I broke some rib cartilage and was prescribed Lortabs by the ER doctor and my family doctor. Is that a crime since the medicines were both used to treat pain?

Your question is a bit difficult to understand. If you are asking if it is a crime to prescribe different brands of medication that are used for the same general purpose the answer is no

From what you stated as long as all doctors involved prescribed the medication for a valid purpose it is their prerogative as to what brand so long as no complications will arise as a result of certain medications not mixing with others

If you feel as if you want to pursue this matter you can always call a local attorney who handles medical malpractice. Explain more fully the situation and if you have a case they will let you know for sure
