CanI get fired for violating company policyif it was done at a manager’s request?

I got fired from work for violation of privacy and now can’t receive unemployment because of it. Yet again my District Manager paid me $50 to spy on a former employee so they could get rid of her.

You were denied unemployment because you were terminated for "cause," correct?  Was the deal with your District Manager - while very wrong mind you - made outside the "scope" of your employment?  In other words, did he pay you out of his pocket or did he use company funds?  Did you feel that you had no choice in the situation but to act as your boss wished you to?  Listen, it was absolutely wrong what you did and you have to take responsibility for it.  You had the opportunity to say no, correct?  But you might want to try and appeal if you did this at the direction of your superior and do it or get fired was how you felt.   Speak with employment attorney in your area to discuss.  Good luck.
