Usually for crimes against a person, like Assault and Battery, you need an unlawful attempt and a willful use of force. In other words, there has to be intentional harm, not accidental.
In the situation you present, the person accidentally hit your elbow while falling with you. He didn't purposely hit your elbow or purposely attempt to hit your elbow.
