What can my son and his uncle have done about this ?What about a civil suite ?, the police are already looking for their landlord and his friend

my 19 year old son that lives with his mother, was attacked last night by his mothers landlord and the landlords friend. The Landlord and friend, quietly crept through the woods in the back yard of my sons mothers house and invaded a small graduation party that was going on. they just appeared out of nowhere and first attacked my sons UNCLE and knocked him to the ground and was kicking him in the face, when my son seen what was happening he advanced toward them screaming ” what are you doing” ” Stop beating him ” that is whenthe Landlord which is 40 + years old about 6 foot 3 inches and close to 300 pounds turned around and punched my 19 year old son in the jaw, breaking it in 3 places and dislocating it. The landlord and his friend fled the scene of the attack. My son is not a big person, he is around 6 foot 1 inch and weighs about 145 pounds and is in no way an agressive person. He is a tall skinny kid, surgery is required His uncle was beat pretty bad and his lips were split in 2

There is absolutely a civil suit here.  Whatever criminal charges are or aren't filed, your son and his uncle can each sue for their damages for assault as a civil charge.  It's possible that they could even get punitive damages, if the jury finds the landlord's attack to be particularly outrageous.  The man owns a house, so there's a reasonable prospect that your family would be able to collect on a judgment, as well.

You should be able to find a personal injury lawyer in your area who will handle the case on contingent fee (paid from whatever is received from the defendant).  One place to look for a qualified attorney is our website, http://attorneypages.com
