What am I entitled to since I was a stay at home mom?

My husband and I have been together for 29 years. My son is 23 years old and will have nothing to do with me. We bought our house with the mindset that we could live off 1 income. I gave up my career to raise our child and take care of my husband’s needs. I am on disability because of common variable immune deficiency. My husband has cut off all

financial aid. He thinks that I can live off of $737 a month. Minus the cell phone bill for everyone which is $300 a month. We still live together and I have to get with divorce quickly. Help me out and tell me what to do first.

Well, you can file for a divorce yourself; each state typically has on-line sites that contains the information for doing this. That having been said, you really should try to obtain legal representation. Since money is an issue, see if Legal Aid can assist you. If not, check if there is a law school in your area as many run free/low cost legal clinics. Finally, see if your local county/state bar association has a list of attorneys who will represent clients "pro bono" (i.e. for free) based on income/circumstances.
