I hit the submit button a bit early.... if you do want to change your name and you are the petitioner, then you would need to include in your original petition a request to change your name. Make sure that you include in your request the first, middle, and last name that you want it changed to. Make sure the same is done in the proposed final decree. If you don't want a name change, the final decree should say so.

The choice to keep your maiden or married name is your's alone... your husband cannot force you one way or the other. He can strongly encourgage.... but that's it.
