Sometimes the right hand does not tell the left hand what they are doing.  Do you have proof that the charges were written off?  A letter?  A statement stating such?  Then send whatever document you have with a letter by certified mail, return receipt requested, advising the attorney that the debt was written off.  Ask them to confirm your claim and write you back verifying that it is true.  The attorney is not going to take your word for it and going to check it out anyway.  They have a legal obligation to do so.  But really make sure that it is as you say with regard to the charge off.  Good luck.
