Was my termination legal

I was terminated from my job. I had loaned my immediate supervisor a few times. Each time I did so I was promised that he was looking out for me and he wouldn’t let anything happen to me. A week before being terminated he asked me for $140. I told him that I couldn’t. A week later, I was fired for job performance. I have the text message of him asking for the money but all other communications including hints of consequences for not loaning were made one on one. I have no proof of the threats.

While unprofessional, your termination was legal. That is unless a term of an employment contract or union agreement was breached. The fact is that most work relationships are "at will". This means that a company can set the conditions of employment much as it sees fit (absent some form of legally actionable discrimination).
