What to do if the lighting is poor in my area and I asked the landlord to repair my porch light but they didn’t so I slipped and fell?

They said they would fix it however they never did. When I came out of my house the other night, I slipped off of the step and fell resulting in a fractured foot. Can I sue for my injuries?

I am so sorry to hear about your fall.  It is quite possible you could have a claim against your landlord for the injuries you suffered, if the step and the light are areas your landlord is responsible for maintaining.  It is important to make your landlord aware of your injury and get an injury claim established with his or her property insurance company as soon as possible.  I would also suggest you contact a personal injury attorney in your area for assistance.  Pursuing a personal injury claim on your own can be difficult and time consuming.  There are many laws and deadlines you will need to comply with.  The insurance company is going to have a professional on their side and his or her job is going to be to find a way to not compensate you or compensate you as little as possible.  You should have a professional on your side as well.  Good luck to you!
