My father died 2 years, he had some stock/bonds in ford motor co. What
happens to those shares. My mother died years ago. Just came across a
certificate.

Call the company to find out what documents, in addition to the death certificate, will be needed to transfer ownership of the stock to you. The required documents to transfer ownership of stock vary from company to company. The company will send you the documents.
