My husband filed for divorce. I got the papers yesterday 4/26/18. Looking them over, I noticed that the box ‘Both parties have an interest in the real estate. I owned the house before we were married. I am totally disabled. He is disabled through the VA. He wants me to go with him to his lawyer and have a new agreement drawn up. Should I go with or without a lawyer representing me?

Definitely get an attorney. You describe a situation where he is trying to impose his interest on a home you owned pre-marriage--i.e. on a home which should be 100% yours. Your question does not indicate any reason why he would have an interest in this real estate: he may be trying to take property or equity which belongs to you. That also suggests that the rest of the proposed deal or settlement may not be fair to you, since if he is trying to take an interest in your property, there is no reason to think that he is being fair in other regards. He has a lawyer helping him; you need to have an attorney, too, in order to meet him on an even playing field and protect your interests.
